TOURS

Palermo Chico

Description

This walking tour focuses on the urban area with the highest concentration of parks and monuments. Taking Libertador Avenue as the principal axis, we appreciate the historical monuments as well as those with an aesthetic and decorative purpose..

Along the walk, we encounter residential and institutional buildings of great architectural value, that illustrate the eclecticism that characterized Buenos Aires around 1910, its highest point in terms of economy and urban development.

We get lost in the forking paths of the so-called La Isla (the island), and walking under the shade of ancient trees we visit the magical corner known as Palermo Chico, that brakes with the traditional grid pattern of the city, proposing a nice strolling along its curved streets, being able to point at the impressive residences of the local high class of the golden age, most of which are nowadays embassies.
To finish the walk, we visit the luxurious National Museum of Decorative Arts, former residence of the Errázuriz Alvear family, the only palace of the belle époque that can be fully appreciated with its original furniture, objects and details.
