A day in the pampas I: San Antonio de Areco |
Description |
A vivid approach to the well-known Argentinean countryside and its culture. The road leads us to San Antonio de Areco, located at 110 Km away from Buenos Aires to the former colonial border with the natives. We walk along the very well preserved historical centre visiting its main square, the County hall, the main church and the workshops of famous silversmiths (the classic pampas’ artisans). Before noon we drive to one of the area’s best estancias where we enjoy an exquisite criollo barbecue (asado). Different activities can be chosen for the afternoon: from horseback riding to walks, birds watching and during the summer the enjoyment of the swimming pool. Before heading back to a Buenos Aires, we are offered a typical countryside “tea”. |
